Martinalia
Évron, France is home to a community of Catholic priests in training. The altar of their local parish, Basilica of Our Lady of the Thorn, is adorned with a triptych of scenes from events in the Vita Martini; Martin sharing his cape, the Miracle Mass, and his death in Candes.
The artist closely follows the example set by Simone Martini for his work in the Martino Chapel in Assisi.

Simone Martini painted the frescoes adorning a small chapel dedicated to Martin in the Basilica of Saint Francis in Assisi, Italy. These images were translated and adapted from displays placed in partnership with Collégiale de Candes-Saint-Martin and the St Jeanne d’Arc parish in Chinon.
